Frederick mulls towing regulations

FREDERICK, Md. (Map, News) - The City of Frederick is looking at regulating tow truck operators who remove motor vehicles from private lots.

During a workshop Wednesday night, Mayor Jeff Holtzinger said he's heard stories of people who were charged exorbitant rates for towing and storage. He says the penalties don't seem to fit the crime.

Dale Grimm operates a towing company and favors regulation. He says a few predators are giving his industry a black eye.

Alderman Kip Koontz says any regulation should require easily visible "no parking" signs.

Holtzinger plans to submit an ordinance in a few weeks.

Nothing new here... this has been going on for years, with corrupt city officials looking the other way for a cut of the action. Your politicians at work...
