ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Map, News) - An Anne Arundel County judge has committed a Linthicum man to a mental hospital after ruling he wasn't criminally responsible for his father's murder.
Circuit Court Judge Paul F. Harris accepted state doctors' conclusions about 43-year-old John Bealefeld's mental health. The judge ordered a state mental hospital to treat Bealefeld until he is no longer considered a threat to society.
Anne Arundel County police charged Bealefeld last July after his 76-year-old father was found bludgeoned to death in a home they shared.
A few months before Maurice Bealefeld died, the father sought an emergency psychological evaluation for his son, saying his son was hearing voices and assaulting him.
