Teens, deputies hit the court to benefit injured deliveryman

BALTIMORE (Map, News) - Harford sheriff’s deputies went head to head with teens from Edgewood and Joppatowne — on the basketball court.

The inaugural charity basketball game, hosted at Magnolia Middle School by the “Boys II Men” sports and mentoring program, pitted 13 of the program’s “all-stars” against nine volunteers from the Sheriff’s Office.

The $800 raised through ticket sales from the Friday event will be donated to the family of Kishor Kc, who was attacked while delivering food Feb. 2.

“I wanted the boys to learn something about giving back,” said the program’s founder, Pastor Alfred Reeves of Carpenter’s House in Aberdeen.

Nearly 600 middle school boys from the Route 40 corridor participate in Reeves’ program, which encourages the boys’ involvement in school and prevents them from falling in with gangs and drug dealers.

Plans are in the works for a charity football game in June to raise money for cancer research, Reeves added.

Kc, 34, of Nottingham, was delivering pizza for his brother’s Pizza Boli’s franchise in Abingdon when two Edgewood teenagers allegedly assaulted him in the parking lot of Charlestown Drive in Harford Square. He was beaten in the head with a heavy wooden object and robbed, according to police.

After an extended hospital stay, Kishor returned home two weeks ago, his brother Naresh said.

“He’s not the same person anymore; he’s very quiet,” Naresh said.

Kishor is attending physical therapy sessions in Columbia five days a week, and problems with his memory and balance prevent him from returning to the Community College of Baltimore County anytime soon, Naresh said.

Douglas O’Neill White Jr., now 16, was charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, carjacking, conspiracy and more. A 13-year-old co-defendant was charged as a juvenile.

I read in the Sunday Sun that the 2 losers called the pizza delivery to their apartment then robbed the delivery man. Smart, real smart. The pizza chain was hesitant about delivering to Edgewood. Hmmm, wonder why? Edgwood residents will have to learn how to make their own pizzas. If KFC delivered, they'd steal the chicken from the delivery man but let him keep his money, LOL.

I'm glad that they were denied bail. 2 more thug gangsta wannabees off the Edgewood streets. 15 and 13 year-olds too. Career criminals starting young. The pizza delivery guy should have been carrying a gun.
