Article History SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Bay Area children and families are invited to Dolores Park in San Francisco on Sunday to observe the ninth annual Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros (A Celebration of Children and Books), a free party that promotes literacy, language and culture.
Live performances and art activities are on the program, which also features a giveway: Every child gets a free book. Performers include Omulu Capoeira Guanabara, presenting the traditional Brazilian art form, capoeira. Colibri — Lichi Fuentes and Alisa Peres — wiill play Latin American folk songs.
The gathering, which is presented by a collaboration between many Bay Area nonprofits and community organizations dedicated to literacy and education, runs from 1 to 4 p.m. The park is at Dolores and 20th streets. For details, call (415) 575-3535, Ext. 14 or visit www.mlcsf.org.
