D.C. police are investigating whether the shooting of a 24-year-old man may be connected to a federal fraud investigation, authorities said. Leituenant Harris Jr., of Capitol Heights, was gunned down in his car Thursday night, three weeks after authorities arrested him after finding fraudulent credit cards, a few small bags of marijuana, and eight U.S. Department of State passport applications during a routine traffic stop. Harris told federal agents that he obtained the passport information from a co-conspirator who works for the U.S. Department of State.

D.C. Inspector Rodney Parks said detectives have found no evidence that Harris' death is related to the investigation, but they are following up with the federal authorities.
