LAUREL, Md. (Map, News) - State police say three teenage girls escaped the Waxter Children's Center in Laurel, but two have been found.
The girls, aged, 18, 17 and 15, fled the facility in the 300 block of Red Clay Road in Laurel around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Sgt. J. Cameron of the Glen Burnie Barracks says state police, U.S. Park Police, Anne Arundel County police and at least two other agencies joined in the search.
Cameron says the girls were being held for minor juvenile offenses, and no weapons were believed to be involved in the escape.
Within an hour, Cameron says one girl was captured in a wooded area near the center and a second was found walking on the shoulder of Route 198 near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
