FREDERICK, Md. (Map, News) - The Frederick Arts Council says art's a ball, and it aims to prove it with its latest fundraising project.
The group is making 1,000 baseballs available for artists and celebrities to decorate or sign.
The balls will be displayed this summer throughout Frederick County. A juried selection will be auctioned off August 29 at Harry Grove Stadium, home of the minor-league Frederick Keys.
Arts Council Executive Director Shuan Butcher says he hopes to get at least 850 baseballs decorated by artists, and at least 100 signed by national celebrities. The remainder would be either signed or decorated by local dignitaries.
