Two pieces by Notre Dame de Namur resident composer Henry Mollicone on are a world premiere bill at 7 p.m. April 20 at Cunningham Memorial Chapel in Belmont. The program, a presentation of the Ralston Perfomers Series and sponsored in collaboration with the Dorothy Stang Center, benefits groups serving the homeless.

“Misteria,” described as a celebration of the Mysteries of the Rosary, features pianist Daniel Glover. “The Beatitude Mass for the Homeless” will be accented with artwork from Sunset magazine designer Keith Whitney. The piece also features the San Jose Symphonic Choir and Orchestra performing monologues taken from interviews with homeless people in San Jose.

Bay Area jazz favorite Wesla Whitfield appears with the Peninsula Symphony at 8 p.m. April 26. Whitfield, who was trained in classical music and opera, has been performing material from the Great American Songbook for more than three decades.

Mike Greensill & Ensemble will accompany her; they’ll also be joined by a French horn quartet led by William Klingelhoffer, principal horn of the San Francisco Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and members of the Peninsula Symphony.

Songs Gershwin, Ellington, Rodgers and Hammerstein — with new arrangements by Greensill — are on the bill.

Whitfield and Greensill’s new recording, their 19th and their first as a duo, is “Message from the Man in the Moon."
