1. Take a deep breath. Notice how your pulse goes up during a confrontation, deadline or challenging situation? Our breath is very connected to our emotions. When you find yourself frazzled, take 10 deep, full breaths before reacting to that unpleasant e-mail or carrying on with your day. This will bring your body back to a state of equilibrium.
2. Get moving. Put on your walking shoes and hit the streets for a brief jog or walk around the building. Or take off your shoes, unroll your yoga mat and do a few downward facing dogs. Simply stepping away from the computer or drama can do wonders to restore a sense of tranquility. Changing scenery and getting your body moving will release tension quickly.
3. Regroup. Sometimes it just takes giving yourself time between meetings or appointments to return to balance so that you don’t run into your next obligation frazzled. Taking the time to reflect on the last meeting, prepare for the next one and take a few deep breaths in the process will offer a much-deserved respite.
