The man accused of being the shooter in a double slaying Saturday morning outside a Sunset district pizzeria appeared in court Thursday, but delayed entering a plea.

The attorney for Matthew Owyang, 19, of Daly City, maintained his client’s innocence.

“They’ve arrested the wrong person,” Bill Fazio said.

Daly City resident Jason de la Cruz, 31, and San Francisco resident Derek Butch, 23, were slain about 2:30 a.m. Saturday after an argument with another group outside Irving Pizza, according to police.

Owyang is being held on no-bail status and is expected to enter a plea Tuesday morning.
