SAN JOSE (Map, News) - After a two-year absence, the Earthquakes return to Major League Soccer tonight.

Coach Frank Yallop takes his reborn Quakes to face his old team and some familiar faces — the Los Angeles Galaxy, led by ex-Quake Landon Donovan and British import David Beckham — at the Home Depot Center in Carson for their nationally televised season opener. The Galaxy dropped their first game 4-0 to Colorado on Saturday.

Key players for San Jose are goalkeeper Joe Cannon, defender Nick Garcia and striker Gavin Glinton.

Meanwhile, defender Eric Denton, a former Santa Clara star, was signed to a contract. He did not play last season, most recently seeing action with Colorado in 2006.
