Because no family members had been contacted yet, the San Francisco Medical Examiner would not release the name or age of the deceased, who was struck approximately 10:25 p.m. on Thursday by a Toyota Tacoma traveling southbound on Sunset Boulevard near Vicente Street, said police department spokesman Sgt. Neville Gittens. The woman succumbed to her injuries approximately 1:30 a.m., Gittens said.
Gittens had no information on how fast the vehicle was travelling, but he said he did not believe speed was a factor in the collision.
“There is no reason to indicate that the driver was at fault,” Gittens said. He added that the accident did not appear to be the result of a suicide by the pedestrian.
