Dragon catches fire at closed amusement park

Jessup man arrested for sexually assaulting girl

Howard police arrested Joel Antonio Ramirez, 33, formerly of Jessup, who was wanted for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

The victim said Ramirez touched her inappropriately on numerous occasions during an 18-month period, and a witness also saw him inappropriately touching her, police said. He was charged Wednesday with third- and fourth-degree sex offenses. — Carolyn Peirce

Concrete chunk hits car on Route 1 in Bel Air

Two men may have dropped concrete Thursday off an overpass onto a moving car outside Bel Air, according to the Harford sheriff’s office.

Deputies saw 2004 Mazda 6 pull over to the side of the road at 12:45 a.m. near the Vale Road overpass at Route 1, said Sgt. David Betz, sheriff’s office spokesman. The front driver’s side door and mirror had more than $500 in damages; no one was injured. – Matthew Santoni

Hitchhiker robs from ride

A Marriotsville resident offered a ride to a Pasadena woman Tuesday in Westminster only to stop for gas and find $60, a check, credit cards and ID missing, according to the Carroll sheriff’s office. Ashley Wolfe, 21, was charged with theft and drug possession. – Mike Silvestri
