Two District men have been charged with sticking up Asian restaurant delivery drivers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, as well as Northwest D.C., The Examiner has learned.

Eighteen-year-olds Keith Reed and Stefan Corriea, both of the Petworth neighborhood, are charged with acts of carjacking, conspiracy and armed robbery at least three times from October to February. But they are being questioned for nearly three dozen other robberies in the region.

Most of the victims were Asian, dispatched to homes for phony deliveries and then ambushed on the routes, court documents said.

The robberies have unsettled drivers in the prosperous corridor of Northwest D.C. and lower Montgomery County. Announcing the apparent pattern last month, D.C. police officials scrambled to meet with restaurant owners and drivers to ask for their help and to warn them about the dangers they faced.

The case was broken open after a delivery man was robbed in October. The victim gave police a license plate of his attackers and authorities traced the getaway car to a relative of Corriea’s, court documents state.

A source familiar with the investigation said Prince George’s County police were staking out Reed’s home on Feb. 8 — the day after a robbery — when he and Corriea drove across the city border into Montgomery County. One of the men called Asian Carryout on University Boulevard and ordered some food.

They then parked in front of a darkened home and waited, court documents state.

Fearing that the men were going to rob the delivery driver, authorities swooped in and arrested the pair, court documents state.

“This robbery attempt was consistent with other robberies of this trend,” documents state. Searching the suspects’ homes, police recovered several cell phones they believed were used in the robberies, a gun box and 9 mm bullets.

Correia has since admitted to two of the robberies, court documents state.
