Article History SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Can’t decide what’s more enjoyable: Watching Monta Ellis hitting the lane at full speed or listening to Amy Winehouse’s Grammy-sweeping CD. Pure genius both, but hearing my 3-year-old daughter sing, “They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said, ‘No, no, no!’” makes me feel parentally wrong, so the magnificence of Monta gets the nod.
» Speaking of the GSW’s, don’t be so quick to dismiss the acquisition of Chris Webber. Sure, his physical condition is as close to being NBA-ready as is mine (6-foot-7, 265 pounds and in a neck brace following vertebrae-removing surgery) to being ready to challenge for Olympic gold in the 400, but if C-Webb can work himself into good shape by late April, the 10 or 15 minutes of physicality and pinpoint passing he might be able to provide down the stretch could make a huge difference.
And remember this: The W’s are done with the Utah Jazz, who use Carlos Boozer to absolutely murder them, for the rest of the regular season. Having to deal with a halfway decent Webber could throw Boozer off a bit should these teams square off in the playoffs.
» Time for the DeYorks — coincidence that saying that quickly sounds like “dorks”? You make the call — to show us something and give Mike Nolan, Mike Martz and/or Alex Smith and/or Shaun Hill a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver to take some Frank Gore headhunters out of the box. Bernard Berrian’s available, and while he’ll be pricey, picking him up would immediately send a lot of people to the season-ticket window.
» Are the Sharks tough enough to win the Stanley Cup? No. They’re not quite fast enough, either. Clock’s ticking, boys. Time to make a move or resign yourself to another fairly high seed and another fairly quick playoff exit.
» Is third place an insane stretch for the Giants this year? A lot of people think so, but those same people didn’t exactly see the Colorado Rockies doing what they did last season, either. The Giants can pitch and catch with anyone in the division, the San Diego Padres are in for a tumble and the young Rockies, as talented as they are, might have simply caught lightning in a bottle. Oh, and Joe Torre’s Los Angeles Dodgers? Talk to me when Andruw Jones’ average is over .230 and Jason Schmidt has made his 15th start. Then I’ll start to take them seriously.
Aaron Rowand showed up to camp early and organized a bowling tournament that drew between 20 and 25 teammates. Then he made a speech before the first full-squad workout. That’s called making a good impression. Great signing.
» And finally, an A’s prediction: Eric Chavez stays healthy, hits 22 homers in the first half and gets traded for five prospects and a chocolate Lab to be named later. Billy Beane is NOT done.

Big Brown is an Aries with a Taurus Moon. Kent D. is a Pisces with a Scorpio Moon. Who do you think is gonna be in charge?
