Half Moon Bay man dies in solo crash, no seatbelt

HALF MOON BAY (Map, News) - San Mateo County coroner's office today identified the 55-year-old man who died this morning south of Half Moon Bay in a solo-vehicle collision on eastbound Tunitas Creek Road just east of state Highway 1.

California Highway Patrol investigators believe Daniel O'Hare was traveling westbound in his 2004 Ford Freestar around 7:15 a.m. when the vehicle veered onto the right shoulder and hit a tree in unincorporated San Mateo County.

The Half Moon Bay man was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and San Mateo County fire officials pronounced him dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The collision is being investigated and anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call Officer McDonough at (650) 369-6261.
