OAKLAND (Map, News) - Just days before California's primary on Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., is scheduled to campaign in Oakland today for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Kennedy, who endorsed the U.S. senator from Illinois for president last Tuesday, is due to appear for a public event at 2 p.m. at Beebe Memorial Cathedral. He was to appear earlier at an event in East Los Angeles.

In his endorsement Kennedy praised Obama's stance on the economy, health care, and the war in Iraq, describing him as "the candidate who can inspire Americans to act and bring us together to achieve those goals" and comparing him to his brother, former President John F. Kennedy.

Though Obama has trailed U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., by double digits in recent polls of Democratic voters in California, one poll taken by public opinion research company Rasmussen Reports on Tuesday showed

Clinton's lead down to 3 percent, at 43 percent to 40 percent. The poll additionally showed former U.S. Sen. John Edwards at 9 percent, but Edwards dropped out of the race the next day.

Clinton is scheduled to appear at rallies this afternoon in San Jose and tonight in San Francisco.

Kennedy, you live a life of luxury where many in the Bay Area have no job, no home, no savings, not much food and you come here to ask for our votes for that Obama whose staff has threatened to kill many of us just because we did not wish to vote for him. You, Kennedy, Ted, go home.

Can anyone supply a link or two to reputable sites that summarize the candidates' positions on issues? News-media sites I've checked seem only to be covering the horse-race...

Sen. Clinton told how she chose to work at the Children's Defense Fund out of law school. That's a half-truth bordering on a complete lie. Years ago she said she couldn't get a corporate law job just out of law school because of gender discrimination and the only job offered to her was the Children's Defense Fund. I have lost all respect for her based on her win-at-any cost tactics. She wants to be president based on her personal ambition only and her dublicity should be recognized. Sen. Obama has the right platform, integrity, and ability to take us forward. We will have a female president one day. But, we shouldn't be tricked into the choice and it shouldn't be that woman.
