SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Still chafed that Chris Daughtry didn’t win “American Idol”? Get over it. He did, and he went on to sell millions of records.
Still angry about the end of “The Sopranos”? Get over it. If Tony had been riddled with bullets in the finale, half of you’d have been bummed. If he’d moved the wife and kids to a stress-free life on some sort of immunity-island paradise, the other half of you’d have griped about the immoral message. The ambiguity of it all should satisfy everyone’s imagination.
And what about poor old John Edwards? Seemed like a nice guy, right? A nice guy who lost, sure, but the world’s full of them. Get over it. He’ll be just fine.
Point being, we all get way too worked up over some things that are pretty silly in the grand scheme of things. And nowhere does that apply any greater to the silliness that is sports.
To wit …
» Chris Webber, blamed by thousands as the man who cost the Warriors and their fans years of great times, is back in town. And many of said thousands are bitter about it. But come on; Don Nelson was every bit to blame for that whole fiasco as Webber, and he was welcomed back with open arms, then practically sainted last spring. In C-Webb, we’re talking about an inexpensive role player, folks, and the other Warriors openly lobbied for his return. Get over it.
» Pedro Feliz, the only semi-reliable power hitter for the Giants not named Bonds — and a Gold Glove-quality third baseman — took less money to sign elsewhere. And a whole mess of people are up in arms about it. … OK, terrible example. Exactly 64 people are mad, and I’m one of them. But plenty of the others are Giants pitchers who induce a lot of left-side grounders. They’ll get over it when Joe Crede gets healthy this spring (and makes his way from Chicago), and so will you.
» Tom Brady is closing in on Joe Montana territory as far as winning Super Bowls goes, and tons of 49ers fans are sour, saying Tom could never hold Joe’s — much less Steve Young’s — banana hammock. Simmer down, dukes. Get over it. They’re all great, and we’re lucky to have seen them all in their prime.
» Tiger Woods is on record saying that winning the Grand Slam this year is perfectly reasonable, and plenty of purists are calling that blasphemy. What’s he supposed to do? Say it can’t be done? If that’s the case, why even tee it up? Get over it. It’s not like he’s saying he WILL do it. He’s simply saying it’s a legit goal. Good for him.
» And finally, Al Davis allegedly wouldn’t let Kid Kiffin fire Rob Ryan. This is what you’re worked up about, Raiders fans? Please. Get over it. Al isn’t going anywhere any time soon, and neither is his pathetic excuse for a franchise.
If you really need something to worry about, consider Oprah’s effect on the presidential election. Now that’s a problem.

Big Brown is an Aries with a Taurus Moon. Kent D. is a Pisces with a Scorpio Moon. Who do you think is gonna be in charge?
