Philadelphia secondary coach John Harbaugh arrived at the RavensOwings Mills headquarters for a second interview this morning.

Harbaugh, who has never been a head coach or coordinator, has emerged as one of the strongest candidates to replace Brian Billick, who was fired Dec. 31 after nine seasons. Ravens officials were impressed with Harbaugh’s enthusiasm during a Jan. 8 interview, and Harbaugh is eager to become the team’s third head coach in franchise history, according to a source close to the situation.

The day is not expected to play out much like Jason Garrett’s interview Tuesday, which ended in a contract offer. Garrett turned down the Ravens’ offer Thursday, choosing to remain as the offensive coordinator with Dallas as the league’s highest-paid assistant with an annual salary of about $3 million.

The Ravens could invite New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in for a second interview in the next few days, and still hope to interview his father, Marty.

The Ravens contacted Schottenheimer’s agent Thursday to express interest in the 200-plus-win coach, who is interested in talking with the Ravens, according to a source close to the situation.
