Embattled San Francisco Supervisor Ed Jew has agreed to resign in a deal with the city, a person with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press Thursday.

In exchange for his resignation, the source said, city officials will drop their ethics investigation and a lawsuit that sought to remove him from the Board of Supervisors. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement was scheduled for 1 p.m. at City Hall.

A call to Jew's attorney was not immediately returned.
