Baltimore County police are investigating a report of a sexual assault Wednesday afternoon at Perry Hall Middle School. Police spokesman Cpl. Mike Hill said police received information at 2:34 p.m. that a sixth-grader came into the administrative office and advised them she had just been sexually assaulted by a man.

“They immediately contacted the School Resource Officer and at that time an investigation began,” Hill said.

“The victim, 11, said she went to the rest room between classes and that as she entered, a male subject followed her into the restroom and sexually assaulted her.”

Hill said the girl was able to fight her way free and notified school officials. He said that from interviews with the victim and other information police gained, a contractor with one of the companies doing construction work at the school is believed to be responsible.

“Police have gained leads from other interviews and are working with supervisors from the various contractors and with school administrators in identifying the suspect,” Hill said.

The school is at 4300 Ebenezer Road. Schools spokesman Charles Herndon said though he had been apprised of an incident occurring, he was unclear of the details. He referred inquiries to county police.

“The police are investigating,” Herndon said. “They’re still trying to determine what’s going on.”
