Gov. Tim Kaine announced funding for six centers throughout the state to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Each partnership will receive a $20,00 planning grant, followed by a $100,000 award upon program approval by the Board of Education and the State Council of Higher Education.

The Arlington Career Center will focus on five main areas: automotive, digital media, information technology, emergency medical services and engineering.
