While most men get ties and underwear, a new golf club, perhaps a certificate to the Jelly of the Month club for Christmas, John Christou is one of the luckier ones.

In December 2005, Christou’s fiancé bought him a small Chevy S-10 extended cab from eBay and gave it to her beau as a present.

However, far from being a normal S-10, this Chevy was modified to scrap the pavement and look good doing it.

The lowrider compact pick-up bears a striking green paint job and has all the elements of being an attention grabber — perhaps too much.

Christou, a 37-year-old technician from Rosedale, relays a story about how during a vacation in Ocean City he was stopped within a matter of blocks by two different police officers on Coastal Highway.

During the first stop, Christou was cited for “dragging” — a favorite past time of lowrider enthusiasts in which the rear of the vehicle is usually dropped low enough to create a spray of sparks from the point of contact with the

ground.

No sooner had he pulled away from that traffic stop then another officer stopped him and cited him for even more violations which included “shaved” door handles.

Christou, a man of few words, takes it all in stride however.
