Like many car buffs, those who have the perfect cars are often neck-deep in the industry.

They are race-car drivers, customizers — maybe they even own their own shops.

Others — not immediately intoxicated by the thought of engine grime, grease and oily garage floors — find another branch of the hobby equally as exciting.

Now whether the industry finds them or they find the industry is a matter of debate.

But when examining different forms of creative expression, many agree: A car is the way to go. A moving billboard for one's likes and interests, it becomes an advertisement for what's inside ... and out.

In Perry Hall, Brandon Fugitt confesses to being a creative soul who was “just trying to find what direction” he wanted to go.

After graduation, that direction led him to a local sign shop specializing in car graphics.

And that’s where Brandon was able to test his artistic meddle on a professional level.

Fugitt already had built a local resume with other car-show participants, by working on their vehicles.

He even tinkered on his computer or tried out an airbrush on occasion.

Now as manager of Signs In One Day, Fugitt proudly parks his custom Mazda RX-8 outside the door and uses it to advertise the graphics he sells for vehicles.

What are your wheels?

A 2004 Mazda RX-8.

And why do you drive it?

At first I hated the RX-8, because I thought it was a slap in the face to the old-school RX-7. That is until I test-drove an RX-8. When I began my car search I made it clear that I did not want an RX-8, but my girlfriend showed me a picture of the interior. Right then and there I fell in love with the car. I purchased my RX-8 earlier this year. I couldn't be happier. It is everything I could ever want.

What makes this car so special?

My car is a perfect complement to me. It is a representation of who I am inside and out.

What is your most memorable driving experience — that you want printed?

Well, what I want printed [laughs] ... My most memorable driving experience was when I took my car to its first car show in Ocean City, where I had a picture taken and placed on dropjawmag.com. That planted the seed [for me] that I liked the car-show scene.

What's currently in your CD player?

The Perfect Excuse — a local band.

What was your first vehicle?

A 1996 Cavalier that I drove like it was an Indy car until I blew the engine [laughs].

And your first ticket? What was if for?

The same as all the others — speeding. What can I say? I have a lead foot.
