Shares of National Semiconductor (NSM) were down by nearly 1.5 percent in early trading, with Lam Research Corporation (LRCX) and Network Appliance, Inc. (NTAP) also down.
Oracle Corporation took the spot for most shares traded Wednesday morning, with its volume at more than 11 million shares. Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) also held on to their usual top spots in the most-traded shares ranking.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has been jumping up and down in early trading, but is trending upward nearly half a percent.
In other stock news, Apple Inc. (AAPL) is in talks to launch its iPhone in Japan. Meanwhile, Adobe Systems (ADBE) held on to a gain late Tuesday, bucking expectations that growth would be sluggish in 2008.
