Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) fell more than 3.6 percent following the close of trading Tuesday, the largest move seen Thursday among local stocks tracked by the Examiner.

San Francisco-based Charles Schwab Co. (SCHW) also fell, by more than 2.2 percent, while San Jose-based SunPower Corp. (SPWR) rose more than 3.1 percent and BEA Systems Inc. (BEAS) more than 2.9 percent.

The markets rose overall Tuesday, with the Dow Jones up 0.5 percent, the Nasdaq up 0.8 percent and the S&P 500 up 0.6 percent.

Local companies in the news on Tuesday included Adobe Systems (ADBE), which reported strong fourth quarter results Monday.
