Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE) was performing well in early trading, up more than five percent on Tuesday. NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA), which recently earned international kudos for its business model and products, was not far behind, up nearly three percent. BEA Systems, Inc. (BEAS) was also up.

SanDisk Corporation (SNDK), however, was trending downward nearly three percent on Tuesday morning. Google Inc. (GOOG) and Safeway Inc. (SWY) were also trading downward.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) was trading at highest volume, at more than 5.3 million shares changing hands. Intel Corporation (INTC) and Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE) were also trading up at nearly 5 million shares each.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, overall, has been up and down in early trading, but is trading upward at more than a third of a percent.

In other stock news, Intel said Tuesday it would sell telecommunications assets of the company's optical platform division to Emcore Corp., a chip materials maker, for $85 million. Telecom assets include intellectual property, assets and fiber-optic technology.

Security software company Symantec Corp. said Tuesday a Los Angeles federal court awarded $21 million in damages against a network of counterfeit Symantec software distributors.
