Johnson, 50, interviewed at Southern Methodist in Dallas on Tuesday after talking to Duke officials on Monday. However, Gladchuk said Johnson will not make a decision until talking with him.
“As far as I’m concerned, Paul Johnson is our football coach and there is no question about it,” Gladchuk said. “He’s just talking to other schools and hearing what they have to say, which is what he’s always said he would do.”
Johnson has spent the past six seasons in Annapolis, where he turned one of the college football worst teams into a squad that will play in its fifth consecutive bowl game later this month when the Midshipmen (8-4) face Utah (8-4) in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 20.
Georgia Tech fired Chan Gailey in November after the Yellow Jackets finished 7-5. In six seasons, Gailey went 44-32.
Johnson is 45-29 at Navy and 107-39 in 11 seasons as head coach, as guided Georgia Southern to two national championships during his five seasons in Statesboro. Calls to Johnson and his agent, Jack Reale, were not returned.
