examiNation Baltimore: Who really won the Ravens-Browns game?

Was it a cruel twist of fate? Just when the Baltimore Ravens thought the ball finally had bounced their way, the refs had something else in mind. One minute, the Ravens thought they had escaped with a victory over the Cleveland Browns thanks to an apparent missed field goal by Cleveland kicker Phil Dawson with no time left in regulation. The next minute, they were told that Dawson’s kick hit the center support behind the crossbar before deflecting onto the field. The result was a successful 51-yard kick by Dawson and an overtime session the emotionally deflated Ravens were not ready to endure.

Everyone seems to busting on the players for leaving. Why? The field goal was initially ruled no good. The time ran out. The coaches met at midfield and shook hands. It appeared the game was over. You can't blame the players for acting like they would any other game.

The refs eventually got the call correct and the better team won! It's just not the Ravens year. For those with a message that the Ravens should leave town...I have a better idea for you idiots...why don't you leave town!!

Now the Ravens know how the Browns usually feel after they get screwed...even though the final call was correct, so really the Ravens really didn't get screwed...FINALLY things are looking up for the BROWNS!!!

If the Ref makes a call it should be enforced. It looked like the goal rejected the ball. The Ref's should be fined if they make a bad call. I do think the players should have remained on the field as it made them look like they did not care about the Win or the loss.

Tha Ravens won, and that Ref should be severly fined. That was NOT a reviewable play...according to the rules. Someone should investigate his bank account.

hey... all very good comments for a change! where are the "call mayflower" commentors? i dont like boller, but give us an O line for a change. i dont like billick. he needs to go. why they are not running on 2nd and 1 then 3rd and 1 when you're already in field goal range with 40 seconds left blows my mind. he is the worst coach in the league and has rode the "superbowl" for 6 years. they have won only ONE playoff game since the superbowl. time for a change!

They were competitive for once. Cleveland is not a bad team they lost to the steelers last week by a field goal. The Raven have not a won a game in the division. If you ask any coach its over. Pittsburgh would have to loose to everybody in the division just for the Ravens to tie. (Not Happening). First of all Should have never signed Brian Billick to a new contract. Steve McNair will not be in the NFL next year. Kyle Boller is not too bad. He nerve got a good chance and when he did try he had no help. It has been like that throught his career. I really did not like him but in 2 years he will be a premier quarterback in the NFL. The owner should do a overhaul of the whole entire team. Oh by the way someone should fire Ozzie Newsome. Mr. Thomas in New England is having hiself a ball 10-0

I think most fans want to win fair and square. The kick was good. Freaky though it was, the call was correct. Sadly I thought it was over when the Ravens lost the coin toss for the OT. Biscotti really needs to re-evaluate this team. Boller does OK when he has enough time, but we really need a new QB and a stronger offense line to provide protection.

The kick was good. Unfortunate that the Ravens were already off the field and had to be deflated, but the call was finally correct

The Browns won. The Ravens put themselves into the same position time and time again. Turn overs, mistakes and the lack of will to win. Except for Ray Lewis. Now that is a guy who plays a 60 minute game everytime he puts on his uniform.

This game was lost because of bad play calling and failing to manage the clock again.

Like they said in Brooklyn. wait till next year. This one is finished. Maybe the owner will see the light and do the right thing. Maybe he should become more active. It is his money.
