SAN JOSE (Map, News) - A suspicious package that forced the evacuation of eBay’s headquarters Wednesday morning was disabled early in the afternoon and was not an explosive device or dangerous, according to a San Jose Police Department spokesman.

The department’s bomb squad successfully disabled the package about 12:30 p.m. and eBay employees were let back into the building, according to San Jose Police Sgt. Nick Muyo.

“It was not an explosive device,” Muyo said.

Muyo stressed that there was no bomb threat involved, this was merely a suspicious package that police decided to handle “by the numbers.” He would not provide details about what the package contained other than saying “it was not dangerous.”
