I feel that Ms. Walters is a victim of racial prejudice. First and foremost she is guilty of nothing. How do we know that the bags, cars, multiple homes weren't legitimately purchased? Remember she had an excellent job so she could easily buy these things. I felt if she were white, this would never have even made the evening news. Since she is black, what an opportunity to crucify her and even make the story up that she has confessed. Its the white jewish media that is attacking the African American population in this country and should not be allowed. You watch, she will be found innocent of the main charges and found guilty of a misdemeanor. Give her a break folks, its not like she has slain anyone.....its only money.

I assure you it extends deep into their ring of family and friends. They might not ever rat anyone else out. Don't say where the money is and in 10 years they'll all be out still multimillionaire's. Taxicab commissioner selling hack licenses. Paying DMV employees foe driver's licenses. Paying DC hearing examiners to fix tickets. Paying DC employees 10% of a parking ticket to have it removed from the system. Paying inspectors at the inspection station to pass your car. It's called a culture of corruption. Maybe someone will start a charter school to teach DC residents about values. Sorry, the city employee overseeing charter schools just got locked up. Wow. If the comments I am reading are factual, Gandhi is screwing up his own credibility by not holding administrator's accountable for what happened on their watch. What truly amazes me is that the biggest fiscal scandal is within the District government itself, not DCPS! I would imagine there are many more people involved. I suspect much of the money went to casinos, cruise lines and maybe in offshore accounts. I hope the District of Columbia will seize their property. Ooops, they lived in Maryland, didn't they? Now, here's a thought: how about the people levying and collecting taxes actually reside in the District they are collecting for...

What about the financial disclosure forms that all DC government employees have to submit each year? The Office of Integrity and Oversight is supposed to audit those forms. Did they look at Harriette Walters? If they didn't find any "irregularities" with her finances, why is the head of OIO now been promoted to the Acting Deputy Chief Financial Officer? What auditing has he done? Why are others held responsible but not the auditors?

Why hasn't the head of the audit/internal affairs division been fired? Oh, right -- he was made the Acting Deputy Chief Financial Officer to oversee the very department that he should've been auditing all these years? Fox in the Hen House? Why does he keep his job? Also, why hasn't the Chief of the Real Property Assessment Services Division from 2003 to 2005 been fired or asked to resign like the rest of them? She was Gustus and Walter's day-to-day boss for that period as the Division chief for 2 or 3 years and was a direct supervisior of this entire department -- but she hasn't been fired? Why not? And, why is she NOW the Director of Auditing? Why hasn't the Deputy Chief of the Assessment Services Division, who also had direct supervision of Walters and Gustus, been fired? She was their direct boss for 5-6 years!! What about the DC Treasury officials who wrote the refund checks? Were they watching? What about the outside auditors KPMG and BDO Seidman? Where is their liabi

Todays story was a complete hogwash....you say she confessed but won't tell where the bodies are buried in terms of the money...well what did she confess to then? That she did it? Which she can always overturn in court saying it was coerced...unless we can find enough of this money, the gloves don't fit brutha. We DO NOT have motive and we DO NOT have the weapon. I do not believe Ghandi was involved at all. But is not surprising that this would happen because of the lack of checks and balances, protocal that exist in the DC government. The only efficiently ran department is the Department of Motor Vehicles.
