Welcome to this week’s edition of The Examiner’s “Tailgater of Year” contest, where The Examiner selects the best tailgaters from college and professional football games in the Baltimore area. We’re not just looking for a small grill with some hotdogs and hamburgers on it. We’re looking for extravagant, like a portable sports bar with menu items you can’t find on the dollar menu at a fast food restaurant.

We have high expectations for you, football fans. Please, don’t let us down.

Think you have what it takes?

At the end of the season, each of the weekly winners will be posted on examiner.com and the one with the highest number of votes gets the bragging rights, as well as a prize.

This week, we were very impressed by the effort of “Tiki Tailgate,” a party thrown by Sean Halligan and Chris Schattall of Upperco, before the Ravens’ game against the Bengals.

Think you can beat the duo from Carroll County? Let us know where to find you. If you think you can throw a party with the best of them, please e-mail tailgate@baltimoreexaminer.com.

THIS WEEK’S WINNER: Sean Halligan and Chris Schattall

» LOCATION: Corner of Lots G and H

» SET-UP: A renovated 1969 Winnebago — nicknamed “Tikibago”— decoreated to look like a tiki bar, complete with a bathroom. They offer free drinks to people around their tailgate, but accept tips to offset expenses, which cost about $500 a home game. The duo also held a concert before the game featuring their friend, Wes McDonough, singing and playing guitar.

» WHAT’S ON THE GRILL: Hot dogs, sausages, hamburgers and chicken wings

» BEST SIDE DISHES: Potato chips, pretzels and cake

» PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE: 10

» EXPERIENCE: They started tailgating regularly about six years ago and added the Tikibago on a dare that they couldn’t set up a portable bar. “For us, it’s all about good music, good drinks and having a good time,” Schattall said.
