SAN JOSE (Map, News) - Sharks forward Jeremy Roenick, who became just the third American-born player to score 500 career goals, was named the NHL's third star of the week Monday.

In his first season with the Sharks, the 19-year veteran notched his milestone goal Saturday in a 4-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. He became the 40th player in NHL history to reach 500 career goals.

It was Roenick's fifth goal in 10 games this season. He also has five assists. He had an assist in each of the Sharks' other two games last week.

Tampa Bay's Vincent Lecavalier and Phoenix's Steven Reinprecht were the first and second stars, respectively.

Roenick and the Sharks host the Coyotes again Monday in a rare two-game series between the Pacific Division foes. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
