On a day when many banners are declaring, “Support Our Troops,” some military veterans are saying that phrase has lost its meaning. “We’ve become pawns in the political chaos, and that phrase means what politicians want it to mean,” said Thom Unkle, chairman of the United Veterans of Anne Arundel County, during a Veterans Day ceremony Sunday at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Veterans day is just another day off for most of us and if you want to honor them, then just RESPECT them everyday.

What does "the left" have to do with this? I guess the fact that the Bush Admin has slashed veterans benefits doesn't enter into this intelligent conversation? Clearly, what should be done is to restore and increase those benefits. The Government needs to care for these people, but when you have a government run by people who DETEST GOVERNMENT SERVICES and are day by day fighting to reduce government services, what do you expect? Lets remember the facts. The Bush Admin has cut veterans benefits, extended tours of duty, and taken steps to make it harder for vets to get health care. The "left" has nothing to do with, aside from the fact that we have been fighting to get vets better benefits for years

Stop giving taxpayer money to illegals and welfare rats who don't earn it, and spend it on veterans who actually do deserve it.

How should America care for it's veterans? Welcome them home with more open arms and less spew from the left. They don't ask for much but a little thing called "respect". Just because they choose to serve our country doesn't make them bad people. In fact, it makes them heros.
