BALTIMORE (Map, News) - Major League stars Roger Clemens and Huston Street, among others, played there. And so did Brandon Fahey, the rookie infielder for the Orioles, and Oriole minor leaguer Beau Hale.

The University of Texas has a rich baseball history, and now Pehrson, from Arnold, is part of that.

The junior catcher, who transferred from Jacksonville University, was hitting .185 in 27 at bats as this week began, according to the official Texas athletic Web site.

The 6-feet-2, 216-pound Broadneck product had played in 12 games, with five starts. He had no homers and four RBIs for Texas, which began this week 36-15 and was ranked No. 6 in the nation.

Pehrson is the only Maryland resident on the Texas roster.

He was a captain in football and baseball at Broadneck, and hit a home run at Camden Yards in the Crown All-Star game in 2003. He played at Jacksonville from 2004-05, and the team won 48 games during that time.
