“It is our understanding that the overwhelming majority of the command staff is white,” said Marvin “Doc” Cheatham, president of the city National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in a statement. “... The majority of those recruited in this unit are friends of the command staff that purportedly have no relationship or history in the community.”
Cheatham also asked Dixon to probe the number of cases the unit has solved in the past five years and compare the data to each officer’s experience and recruitment.
According to data collected by The Examiner, 60 percent of 2002 homicide cases have been solved, 57 percent of 2003’s cases; 54 percent of 2004’s; 46 percent of 2005’s and 44 percent of 2006’s. Of this year’s 253 homicides, 91 are closed.
The NAACP also has called for a City Council probe into alleged racism in the police department with regard to promotions.
Dixon’s spokesman, Anthony McCarthy, said she “appreciates the concerns of the NAACP and will take their call for a review of police promotions under advisement.”

AKHENATON, you wrote some interesting things in your posts, but, i don't think a police officer can be a Police Officer and be afiliated with the KKK/Aryian Nation. Or can they?

AKHENATON - your remarks are all over the place and make no sense. i still dont know what race, religion or anything else has to do with solving homicides and putting these violent animals behind bars for life. The Police can only do so much, If the citizens want Baltimore to be safe then they need to step up and do there part to help the crime problem.

My reponse to 3:39PM MST on Wed., Nov. 7, 2007...."your remaks are pretty sad...its time to step up and clean up the city" is do you know what the salary of a new police recruit is? 40K plus benefits. The police NEVER had the SOLUTIONS! citizens are paying for security? jokes on the stupid voters! Next, YOU NEVER ANSWERED TO MY QUESTIONS, do you all even no who the bad (rogue) police officers are? and what is success rate of any effective policy to remove a bad (wolf) police officer from the "force?" do your research before you start calling my remarks pretty sad. Another question for you how many police officers belong to national gangs? and what kind of "statistical data" is being shared with the paying taxpayer (i.e., the feds have a terrorist list domestic and foreign)? don't shoot the messenger, but if you try, watch out for this messenger is unlike the other messenger, he WILL shoot back. The police cannot solve the problem of murders/crime, THEY ARE THE PROBLEM-CLEAN HOUS

Hey Doc, 7 of 8 Balto City registered voters didn't vote in the city election yesterday. But 6 of 8 watched a Sanford & Son rerun. Yep, that's racism!

AKHENATON - your remarks are pretty sad. The real issue is the murder is out of control! What is the NAACP doing about it besides namr calling? talk is cheap, its time to step up and clean up the city!

WOW! never really ever had an opinion of the NAACP but from the looks of most the posters on here....maybe I need to become a member. Maybe all of Baltimore's black residents need to become members. If the attitudes expressed on the net are any indication of the mindset of people in power...wee (AA) people need protection and we need groups like the NAACP. Your racism is pervasive...its so sad that you are so filled with hate and ignorance...that you can justify the ungodly things many of you say about people you do not know. RACISM exists...who cares if any of you support the NAACP. you cant make them dissapear...now what?

Why isn't the Naacp more concerned about the number of homicides in Baltimore City, rather than continue to look for the number of white vs. black ratios?

Doc, I am with you! these "crackers" police officers (KKK Brother/sisterhood) need to be purged ASAP! Only the coward assess look for excuses for not removing "rogue/wolf police officers" in the baltimore city police departments. The police are human too....if the investigation comes back conclusive that cronism (white supremacy/racism) has been intrenched within the people of baltimore's police departments/divisions, then we the people of Baltimore city have a right to TAKE THEM DOWN AND TAKE THESE WOLVES DOWN HARD! to send the other clandestined wolves running for cover. Doc, let me ask your critics this question, you cowards who criticize the recent move of the NAACP, do you all even no who the bad (rogue) police officers are? and what is success rate of any effective policy to remove a bad (wolf) police officer from the "force?" Let me tell you, THERE IS NONE! NEVER WILL BE ONE! the police are like bad judges, bad presidents, bad priest...you can get rid of these WHITE DEVILS!

The naacp wants this probe, an investigation into that, Baloney! How about investigating why kids graduate without being able to read and write? How about kids who don't graduate? (that's dropouts) How about the horrendous murder rate in the city? How about getting out in the neighborhoods and pitching in - show some pride? How about it naacp? stop hiding - do something - let Dixon run the city, just see if you can help, not hinder.

Hey "Doc" you really dropped the ball on this one. Your outrage should be with the Homicide Suspects and not the brave men and women who work countless and thankless hours to try putting these thugs away. One of the main reasons that the clearance rate is low is that baltimore city witnesses DO NOT speak up to the Police because people like you preach negativity to keep your power. Its time to use your voice to help clean up the city and stop trying to divide it!
