We're going to blame government for the fact that Americans don't make anything anymore? That a communist country might be out to get us and provide us with sub par consumer goods?
It was the and continues to be the fault of the CONSUMER for the situation that we are in. Quit buying Chinese! If the demand for American made products increased, then production would increase. But you would have to pay double the price. Its up to you.
Shopping is no longer enjoyable, whether it's for food, clothing, appliances or whatever; and I do not patronize the box stores since everything they sell is imported. Even a simple purchase of fruit can be frustrating since a lot of the fruit sold in our grocery stores is imported, which is ridiculous. We like lamb but find American lamb is being exported and in certain stores, like Giant Food, they sell only Australian lamb. I drive all over the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan areas just to assure that my family is consumming only good American grown food. We don't want to be poisoned. And we stay away from ethnic restaurants except for upscale Italian or French eateries.
I think it's a shame that so many people think that the government should have the power to ensure their safety in all facets of their lives like a surrogate parent.
everything from tennis shoes to desert combat boots.we just have to suck it up and learn to live with it.the chicoms own us. gotta go now ,just learnt thet theys a sellun a nu modle o coffee maker at wallys, gotta git me won,cuz theys paintid red. see ya saps latr
The government has a myriad of agencies that fail at every turn. We do not need that FDA to rate products, there are plenty of private entities that do the same job, do it better, and do it cheaper.
For instance, the Good Housekeeping Institute or the Underwriters Laboratories, each gives its own evaluation of the product it tests and backs that up with a guarantee.
Just try to get a bureaucrat to guarantee the products his agency tests. Won't happen.
Government is twice as expensive and delivers half the service. Let's just close most of it down.
Government-run, tax-funded schools exist to
indoctrinate future taxpayers and citizens.
We excommunicated government in the XIX, we
must expel it in the XXI.

This is pretty damn scary. What a way to wage war on Americans .... attack their products. It's a sure fire way to destroy our confidence, our faith in government and our economy.
More Americans have died this year alone from bad food than all terror attacks put together. The war on terror compared to consumer safty, is like swatting a fly in a swarm of killer bee's.
