He is believed to be responsible for similar thefts at other Orchard stores throughout the Bay Area, according to the South San Francisco Police Department.
Friday afternoon, store security and employees noticed the suspect, 30-year-old Chadme John Joseph, allegedly stealing a cable router, a power saw and a power shear, among other items.
According to Orchard’s management, they had a photograph of Joseph, who was considered a serial Orchard shoplifter.
“The suspect threw the stolen items over the fence in the plant nursery department and escaped on foot,” Sgt. Joni Lee said.
When South San Francisco police officers arrived on scene at 2245 Gellert Blvd., they found Joseph hiding in the nearby bushes with a pile of power tools.
Joseph has four outstanding warrants, including burglary, theft, and assault. He was booked at the San Mateo County Jail for burglary and possession of stolen merchandise.
