90th slaying moves city closer to decade high

We in the Sunset are sick and tired of the progressives in City Hall spending our tax dollars on programs with simply enable the violent criminals in this city. We will not let the violence spill over into the safe residential areas where our families live. I urge all voters to kick out the progressive scum and retake our city.

Our mayor might qualify as one of the "Kings of Spin." Like every other major urban area is experiencing the same spike as San Francisco? If that be the case, why is New York City experiencing a decline? Of course it couldn't have anything to do with our mayor's ability or lack their of to lead? There's that menancing bottled water, sugar in soft drinks and let's not forget those noisy, out of control, pizza eaters in North Beach which must be addressed.

Almost 100 deaths Luckily for the Mayor, Board of Supervisors, Police Commission, and SFPD Command Saff a majority where in the Hunters Point/Westerd Addition area. No one cares.. Re hire Rich Shippy retired, Roger Battaglia, Bruce Marovich, Tom Del Torre, and Rick Bruce =promote Tim Hetrich to Chief of Police with Greg Corrales as his Deputy Chief. I guarantee crime will be reduced immediately.

City: Homicide rate part of larger trend

That larger trend has nothing to do an increase in violent crime nationally. It has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that the selfish, arrogant children running this city who call themselves "progressives" really couldn't give a rodent's hindquarters whether the average San Franciscan's quality of life deteriorates due to a wave of violent crime. Fulfilling their egos by trying to "save the world" from global warming, Starbucks, sugar, and the Republicans is FAR more important than whether some innocent black kids down in Hunter's Point get caught in a drive-by, or poor little old lady in District 6 gets mugged. It's all about feeding the BIG EGOs of Newsom, Daly, and Company. Time to think about reviving a time-honored American tradition of tarring and feathering scoundrels, and running them out of town on a rail.

Unfortunately, the reason we have the "politicos" we do is because we have an electorate that never grew up from the 1960's. They are so caught up in their uber-left-posturing and totally overblown sense of importance in the greater scheme of things to have to deal with reality. Much of local government involves mundane, unglamorous, not particulary sexy subject materials. The prima donnas who are out to "change the world" simply can't be bothered with fighting street crime when they could be out protesting global warming, the Iraq war, or George Bush. It's all style over substance with those who are politically active.

I live in District 6. Our elected representative Daly is out of touch with what is happening on the streets because if he were he would help us. Drug dealing, gangs out of control particularly in SOMA now and it wasnt like it here 6 years ago.

The politicos of SF are too busy trying to influence international politics and nanomanage what should be personal lifestyle choices, to be bothered with mundand things like keeping the streets clean and safe...

Don't expect the Mayor to be too concerned about the murder rate in SF, he's working on the sugar in soft drink crisis now.

Hey San Fran look at Denver. It had double digit crime reduction this year. A democrat mayor too!!!Get tough and take back your streets!

Ever watch the Police Commission meetings on Channel 26? That idiot David Campos is so concerned with officers receiving specialized training in dealing with "communities of color" as if it's the cops' fault for all the crime committed by blacks and Hispanics. We have an out of touch commission (with the exception of the new guy- Mazuco?) and district attorney who still blames guns for the mayhem her constituents are responsible for. The Chronicle and the Examiner will lament all the black people who have been killed but will not mention the race of the killers, by default telling us that blacks are indeed responsible. When will blacks tire of this criminality in their community and rise up as one against their vicious brethren? Join with the cops like a lot of the Sunni tribes have done in Iraq to fight al Qaeda, call the cops when you see drug dealing and other criminal activity taking place, testify in court, smile and wave at the cops, raise your kids to respect cops, and fight!

I reject this "crime is up everywhere" explanation for what is happening in SF. First crime IS NOT up everywhere! Crime is up in poorly managed Cities like SF, Oakland, and Richmond. Crime isn't up in San Jose, there are a million people in San Jose and they barely had somewhere between 35 and 40 murders. Crime isn't up in New York either, in fact crime is down in New York! SF needs to fire Heather Fong, get rid of cocaine snorting, cheating on my wife with my best friend Gavin Newsome, and get someone in the DA's office who believes in law and order.

why is San francisco fighting community policing?

When you have a DA that puts her personal feelings about the death penalty into her protection for the law abiding citizens of SF what do you expect? Killers are welcome in SF

You can't stop the crime where the Mayor isn't the least bit concerned about implementing proven tactics (note his comments criticizing what Giuliani did in NY) and the DA, Kamala "see no evil" Harris has one of the lowest conviction rates in the state. These folks aren't serious about fighting crime, and won't ever become serious about fighting crime. Expect 2008 and 2009 to get even worse. Then, perhaps the homeowners in SF will get a clue that it's going to take new leadership to fix the problem, and they will quit worrying about criminalizing the use of plastic bags at local supermarkets and start focusing on real problems like the general sense of lawlessness that has set in on SF streets.
