SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Foster City Police Capt. Matt Martell said this morning that an armed robbery that took place at a Foster City McDonald's Monday night may be connected to an armed robbery at a McDonald's in San Francisco's Ingleside

neighborhood where a woman was grazed on the shoulder by debris dismantled by a gunshot.

A man wearing a ski mask and carrying a black handgun robbed the fast food restaurant in Foster City around 11:45 p.m., Martell said. The robber stopped at the drive-thru in a white or silver four-door sedan.

Witnesses in the restaurant stated that it a style similar to a Chevrolet Impala or a Dodge Stratus.

After stopping the car at the drive-thru, the suspect ran up to the pick up window and demanded money while brandishing his weapon. When the teller hesitated, the robber reached through the window and grabbed most of the money from the cash register, Martell said. He then ran back to his car and sped off, after hopping a curb at the restaurant.

The car was last seen headed west on Metro Center Boulevard.

Less than two hours later, a similar robbery took place at a McDonald's restaurant in San Francisco at Ocean Avenue and Plymouth Avenue, according to San Francisco police.

Around 1:25 a.m. plain-clothes officers witnessed what they believed was going to be an armed robbery, according to Sgt. Steve Mannina. Officers attempted to detain the suspects, and in the duration of the incident, officers fired their weapons at the fleeing suspects.

According to police, it is unknown whether any of the suspects were injured in the shooting.

A woman inside her home, next to the McDonald's, was struck on her left shoulder by debris falling from the shots fired. She was treated and released from San Francisco General Hospital, according to police.

"We are aware of the similar robbery in San Francisco,'' Martell said. "We are working closely with San Francisco police to determine if the two incidents are related.''

No suspects have been arrested in either case.

I'd like to know what the guy looked like too. Seems they always leave out that little tidbit of info yet manage to report everything else about a crime?!
