BALTIMORE (Map, News) - The 2002 Severn graduate from Annapolis missed the end of last season with a shoulder injury.

“It has been a tough season. The first half of this season I wasn’t pitching like myself,” he said.

The right-hander led the Terps in starts (12) and innings pitched (74.1) in late April.

Pfinsgraff beat Georgia Tech, 2-1, in 2005, when the Yellow Jackets were No. 1 in the country. He beat them again this year, when they were also ranked in the top five.

He was 2-6 after a loss at home April 29 to Virginia, which was ranked No. 13 in the nation at the time.

He has benefitted from the teaching of Maryland pitching coach Jim Farr, a former major league hurler and a long-time head coach at William and Mary.
