San Jose-based BEA Systems Inc. (BEAS) finished Friday with its share price down 5.88 percent as the market continued to react to its sniping with Redwood City technology giant Oracle Corp. (ORCL), which is offering to buy it in a hostile takeover. BEA will let Oracle’s bid of $6.7 billion expire because it considers it too low, according to CNNMoney.com.

The markets closed on an upswing overall, with the Dow up .99 percent, the Nasdaq up 1.94 percent, and the S&P 500 up 1.38 percent.

San Jose’s SunPower Corp. (SPWR) was the highest share-price earner among the top 50 Bay Area stocks tracked by The Examiner, earning $117.40 a share, an increase of 9.95 percent.

The most-traded Bay Area stocks for Friday were Sun Microsystems Inc. (JAVA), Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) and Intel Corp. (INTC).
