More than 30,000 runners, volunteers and spectators are expected to use Metro on Sunday to get to the Marine Corps Marathon. The 26.2-mile race begins and ends at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Rosslyn, with a start time of 8:15 a.m.

Metro will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., and run additional Blue Line trains on Sunday to meet demand. Metro expects Rosslyn, Arlington Cemetery and the Pentagon stations to be the most heavily used.

Due to the marathon route, buses that normally use the Pentagon Transit Center will use the Pentagon City Metro station between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Metro riders transferring to the bus should use Pentagon City instead of the Pentagon station.
