examiNation DC: How do you feel about a D.C. cop's suspension after three people were arrested from her home on drug charges?

She has a desk job, she goes home and know's whats going on in her home. While I agree they have stressfull jobs and work LONG hours not to mention court they are also aware of the criminal element and spot the signs before your average citizen. If they are family or friends it doesn't matter. Close association with the criminal element poses a risk not to mention the places the integrity of the MPD at risk. I'm not saying she nees to be fired unless it is proven she knew and/or was involved in the dealing and/or use of the drugs. However, nobody within the law enforcement community should live with the criminal element unless such contact is reported and investigated to ensure the integrity of the MPD and the 'GOOD" officers are not put at risk.

she is a desk sgt. read the article. she works in an administrative position. She works neither long hours or in stressfull environments.

It is hard sometimes for police officers to know what goes arraound in his/her home since they spend so much time at work. A lot of times officers only have time to come home and sleep a couple of hours and don't even get to see their childen or even know what they are doing. People expect the police to know everything about everithing. They are just human beings who have chose a profession with a lot of responsabilites. Start giving officers more support and stop blaming them for the choices other people make. Start making people responsible for the actions and stop scrutinizing when the police have to do their job because of people's actions. Before anyone can speak against a police officer be aware of the circumstances and facts that surround the case and stop relying so much on the media which will only give you the story to their benefit even if it means giving you half the story.

Treat her like anyone else who is present for narcotic deals in DC. Give her a $50 fine and if she doesnt do any more drugs her record is cleared.

I think cops in this city are either GREAT or HORRIBLE. What I really cant stand is watching the cops drive around with their cell phones while driving...it gets my blood boiling.

The article 2 behind this is a bunch of you know what. You don't want to be a cop. I am certain that you could not handle it! I always get hot under the collar when people feel that cops need to be held to a higher standard. They have the worst job in the entire city! They put there life on the line every day so that the rest of us can go about our merry way. I go the other way. I would prefer to give cops more of a break because they have to deal with so much more than the rest of us. Honestly, ask yourself, would you risk your life to save or help people who don't care about you (and further would want to punish you more than the average person when something wrong happens?) I sure would not. I would never want anyone I care about to be a cop ...until they get the appreciation they deserve.

People in stressful occupations often times turn to drugs or alcohol to cope. Yet I would have a hard time believing people would be as incensed if this were a story about a Doctor who smoked pot on weekends. And yet, they both hold people's lives in their hands when they're on duty. I would hope, perhaps in vain, that a balance could be found between excessively punitive and unforgivably lenient ends. DC is short on cops, high on (violent) crime...I could live with letting a pot-smoking cop get off if it meant her later saving the life of an innocent. As for justice: if it took Plato an entire book to discuss it, and scholars centuries to debate it, I doubt that in 1000 characters we'll come to any consensus about it.

She should have been arrested just like any citizen(Mike Vick), she knows what is going on in her house and she is the Police LOCK HER UP/ WHERE IS THE JUSTICE, That's why I want to be a cop, I can be part of one of the biggest GANGS IN AMERICA, and get away with MURDER.

DC cops are CORRUPT. No doubt that they are on the take. Unless,its family members, and in that case, as the poll suggests, she should have contcated internal affairs. Either way, she's in a tight spot with a lot of explaining to do. Firefighters, copy...man they make news for all the wrong reasons.

The Internal Affair should investigate the Sargent Bank account to see how much money has she deposit in cash relate with the drug delers they fund in her house she might laundry the money for them.

She knew what was going on in her home. How can you by day serve and protect, and by night allow people to sell drugs out of your home.

Do a drive-by of her house.

I'm sure she knew all along and figured that since she's a cop that she would be immune to any and all charges. String her up!

Guilty by association, they lived at her house, you can't say she didn't know they had a past and/or were selling drugs, now proving it is another story....

She should also be arrested.
