The debate on global warming is hardly over. Humans have only been measuring climate over the past 200 years. This pattern of warming is just as easily a blip in a natural 1000 year or 10,000 year planetary weather cycle. The parts of Geberdling's testimony that were edited were not based on sound science. There is ZERO credible science that this period of warming climate is solely due to human causes. As to 5:26's comment that being moved by fear over reason and logic: They why do the Democrats support gun control? The entire gun control movement is based on fear and emotion, not reason and logic.

The CDC Director should not inject fear-mongering and liberalistic viewpoints in to what should be a Non-partisan address based solely on fact. She has spent her time preparing for a worst-case scenario which is what she should be doing. She has not had time or funding to personally investigate the validity of her claims of doom. She had to have picked that up selectively to match her own personal opinion. Shes a bloody liberal.

Excuse me...I just read the article. More questions: How is it that no where (based on the Examination article), no where does the Director mention the bonuses of a warmer climate: It will do wonders for drought stricken areas that will see more rain, more farmland, more freshwater in the north from melting ice caps..the Bering Landbridge usable again. Fewer ice storms, snow and blowing cold up north. New and renewed animal/plant species. The globe has warmed before, and will cool/warm again. Humans should not be filled with such self-loathing and guilt for something that Mother Nature does regularly and for which we have no control. We can only learn to adapt....as we have done for thousands of years.

What are the reasons cited for removing the so-called "scientific" testimony? Generally I am against the removal of sound scientific testimony, but if the editing was to remove unproven theory then it should be removed. Or at least designated as theory/opinion in some other way. Do we know if the fine Director's testimony was biased by his opionion? Did he address the the Congress with a lot of hot air and grand-standing?

For me, manipulating information is one thing, censorship another. I have few doubts that all governments at one time or another, present or past, haven't done one or the other or both. Read some history of the world and see if you can convince yourself otherwise. I find manipulation annoyiing, censorship downright scary.

The West Wing does not "edit." It is actively CENSORING the machinery of government in such a way that No Truth (neither Republican nor Democrat)is emerging into the public arena or surfacing for transparent review and accountability. This has nothing to do with the dominant two political parties. It has everything to do with abridging the nature of a government open to its people, a fundamental tenant of a Democracy. This is unhealthy and unhelpful.
