What's the big deal with Millar? This is just another example of the media putting their spin on something in order to stir things up.

I think folks forget that all the money generated from playoff and the All Star games is divided beween all 30 teams. From baseball'$ perspective it's good for ratings. Oriole's fans aren't doormats unless they allow themselves to be. All the public sees is a 2/3 empty ballpark. And Angelos has done exactly what we wanted. He spent $41 million on a bullpen, it's not his fault the horse that won every race earlier ain't winning for us. And he bought Weiters just like we wanted. Disagree with me? Good. I don't care because I have a right to voice my opinion & this is still a free country.

Orioles' fans screamed "Millar is getting a paycheck from us" [whine/ snivel]. Well, the guy that signs his paycheck okayed it. This was nothing but celebrating a recent, significant historical event in baseball. NOT rooting for the RS a la Rudy G. What upsets O's fans is RSN invading Camden. What's embarrassing is fans complaining about Millar when they don't attend games. O's fans say they'll support a winning team but not a losing one. Well folks, that's the classic definition of a bandwagonner. And no amount of fan-based/ message board peer pressure will change my opinion. And you know what? Millar was the O's biggest cheerleader in 2006-07. Never gave up on the wild card until it was beyond reach. Always defends the team no matter how bad a game went. His 2 run rbi put the RS into 3rd in '07, it was his 3 run dinger that took back Camden & took the series. And I hope he kills them in '08.

I think that Kevin Millar is terrific. The Red Sox recieved permission from Andy Mcphail and Peter Angelos and Kevin asked for permission.Class all the way. The 2004 W.S. is the high point of his career and it's great that he can visit with his buddies and some fans. In the past year, I got to hang out with Boog ( O's,Indians,Dodgers), Decinces (O's, Angels). Don't be so provincial. Kevin is good people and he'll be back in the black and orange soon. It's a sport and let's take the high road. Thank You.

You're 100% right, Matt. Apparently, we are just supposed to accept our doormat status and go on with our lives. Does anyone think Larry Lucchino would have had the nerve to ask Johnny Damon to throw out the first pitch? The top of Steinbrenner's head would have blown off...

Dear Sirs, The moronic ramblings of Matt Palmer about Kevin Millar certainly mirror the idiot mass of people like Nestor Apricio (Free The Birds WNST) and those Maryland and Baltimore Yankee fans who are the worst fans in the country. If you dumbells would read what went on and realize it had nothing to do with anything but the recalling of three players directly responsible for their world series championship, perhaps you would have enough brains to comprehend. Further most sports fans in Maryland and Baltimore haven't got a clue about being a fan. How dare you as a fan dictate to those who have spent millions to bring sports to Maryland. If you don't like how they run their business, don't buy the ticket and shur your bif mouth! A true fan!

Kevin Millar a "traitor" to the Orioles for accepting an invitation to toss out the first pitch at a BoSox game? Give me a break, people. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill! The Orioles season is over-- done -- finished. If Millar can't do what he wants, WITH PERMISSION FROM THE FRONT OFFICE, during the off season, then we here in Baltimore have gone completely off the deep end. Get a grip, Baltimore. It would be different if the Orioles were somehow playing the Red Sox in the Series, but we're not. Please, find some semblance of a real life, and fuggedabouddit!

Millar is a hard working ball player with a lot of heart. I was, as an Indians fan, shocked/ecstatic to see him throw out the first pitch. I understood where he was coming from. He still has many friends on the team and he was there to support them. If he thought there was even a chance that O's fans would consider him a traitor, he wouldn't have done it. The O's season was OVER and he threw his support behind the Sox. The guy loves baseball, and just becuase his team didn't get to play October baseball, doesn't mean that he's going to stop watching. Especially when the team he helped win their first World Series in 86 years WAS playing October baseball. Baltimore, don't look down on this guy, consider your city above all the rest, because you have a team, and city that loves baseball the way it should be loved and respected. Heck, this is about as good of an example of good sportsmanship as I've seen in my 62 years. Sincerely, R.T. Buffalo, NY (Die Hard Indians Fan)

Millar worked hard all season for the orioles, and will do so again next season. He plays up to or above his ability at all times. People talk about heckling a guy who tries his best every day. Maybe we should be heckling Miguel Tejada, or Melvin Mora (who "frowned his way to being the worst third baseman in the league) h/t camden chat) or our sorry excuses for starting pitchers (Guthrie/Bedard excluded).

The problem is not Millar. He's an employee of the Orioles that loves "baseball". He has no loyalty to the Orioles or their fans. Clearly his heart is elsewhere. The problem is that the Orioles approved this nonsense. They dont expect their players to even pretend they like playing here. This organization is so dysfunctional it can't see anything wrong with what they've done. Does anyone think the Yankees would have let Johnny Damon go throw out the first pitch in Boston? Millar wont get booed much at Camden Yards this year because there arent many Oriole fans still going to games. How can fans be so willfully blind that they can pretend Millar has any credibility left in an Orioles uniform. Did he really want the Orioles to win against Boston this season? We shouldnt have to wonder. He should take what's left of his integrity and get out of town. Too bad he can't take the front office with him.

Get him out. It's absurd that he is getting a pass on this, but also his average and power numbers are low and his defense is sub-par. If the front office loves his leadership so much, make him part of the coaching staff, but get him off the field. I have never cheered against an Orioles player, but I can't wait to heckel Millar if he comes back.

This isn't the old days anymore. In all sports teammates on all teams are buddies. Watch them talk and laugh with each other all the time. A no-no in my day. He was having fun with his friends. He did not hurt the O's The O's lousy play is what hurts the O's and the writers can only write negative stories and drum up contraversy. They are very good at that.

Matt, Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, you completely missed the boat. The problem is not Millar rooting on the team he used to play for while they are STILL playing. The problem is not the one player who gave anyone in Baltimore something to root for fifty some games in a row. If you want a scapegoat, fine you managed to find one. I would rather point at the on-field loss of focus at 3rd, being exploited over and over by bunts in obvious bunting situations and looking surprised when it happens. The loss of focus at short with numerous errors on plays that could not and should not have been tried. The catcher that all of a sudden can no longer throw straight or has the cajones to block the plate and attempt to make a play. The 6 million dollar DH who wasn't because he cannot go back on a fly ball. No, lets make a scapegoat of the only gamer we have. Good job Matt.
