Aberdeen, Md. (Map, News) - The city’s municipal elections will go ahead as planned in November.

Steven Johnson, owner of Johnson’s Family Pharmacy, dropped a lawsuit today that sought to have him added to the ballot. The move also ends an injunction ordered by a judge of Friday to delay the election.

“It’s really not about me, it’s about the best interest of the city, and delaying the elections is not in the city’s best interest,” Johnson said.

Johnson, who owns residences in Aberdeen and Perryman, was denied the spot on the ballot by the city board of elections as a candidate for city council because his primary residence is in Perryman, outside the Aberdeen city limits.

City Manager Doug Miller said that with the dropping of the case, the election will be resumed as planned for Nov. 6.
