Changing course
- We were wrong. That’s what the Maryland State Highway Administration is saying about a new multimillion-dollar ramp that was supposed to help improve traffic flow. Instead, the ramp from the Inner Loop of the Beltway to southbound Route 5/Branch Avenue in Prince George's County has actually been creating backups.
I-66 ramp runaround
- There’s a major change for drivers who get on Interstate 66 west from the E Street Expressway in the District. The D.C. Department of Transportation has shut down the ramp leading from the expressway to I-66 west for repair. The ramp is not expected to reopen until around Aug. 25.
Metro, road delays planned
- It's part of the weekend routine on Metrorail: track maintenance and railcar testing. Red, Blue and Yellow Line riders will have to deal with more of the same this weekend.
Demolition derby
- Anyone who drives on Route 29 in the Gainesville area will tell you it can be a real nightmare. This week a portion of the road will have to be closed so that bridge demolition work can take place.

- Work has been going on for some time to prepare for the High Occupancy Toll Lane Project on the Capital Beltway: Now it’s time for the real fun.

- Rock Creek roads: The National Park Service has some work planned this week in and around Rock Creek Park — know before you go and don’t let it slow you down.
To the bridge
- Because it is such a popular route to and through the District, any work on the 14th Street Bridge, at any time, can be a real headache. Drivers will have to go through some of that pain this week as the D.C. Department of Transportation conducts emergency repairs and maintenance on the bridge.
Getting ready for the Fourth
- The Fourth of July is now just four days away — and that means plenty will be happening around the region this week, including road closures and parking restrictions.
It’s heating up in Richmond
- The temperature is turning up in Richmond, as Virginia lawmakers try to hammer out a deal for transportation funding in the state. But even though hundreds of planned transit projects have been put on hold or cut across the state, there are still some that are moving forward.
