Carelli and Pinkerton, who were on the run for almost three months, are expected to enter pleas today in the slaying of San Francisco resident Leonard “Milo” Hoskins.

This weekend, Cal — which is 30-15-2 and ranked No. 16 by Baseball America — plays a three-game series at its rival, sixth-ranked Stanford (28-16-2).

8 days ago- The San Francisco singer-songwriter leads Rupa & the April Fishes in a 1 p.m. concert today that kicks off the 2008 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival. The downtown arts festival offers hundreds of free performances, including classical, jazz and world music, theater, traditional and contemporary dance, children’s and family programs. Weekly events continue through October.
8 days ago- Potomac Riverkeeper chief Ed Merrifield leads a nonprofit environmental group dedicated to reversing years of pollution and restoring water quality to the Potomac and its tributaries. A former chiropractor, Merrifield became the group's executive director in 2003 and has since been confronted by environmental woes on the waterways, including large-scale fish die-offs and the emergence of transgender, or "intersex," fish.

10 days ago- The director of the San Francisco-based nonprofit Fritz Institute was awarded the first University of San Francisco California Prize for Service and the Common Good. Fritz will be honored at a dinner tonight.
11 days ago- The electronic musician, aka Mochipet, released a new album earlier this month on the Daly City Records label he launched out of his Daly City apartment about three years ago. Called “Microphonepet,” it features collaborations with musicians around the world. Wang recently completed a European tour and is touring the East Coast.
12 days ago- The new general manager of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission started work April 1. The CPA, who had been San Francisco’s controller since 1991, will share his thoughts on the PUC’s future at a breakfast this morning hosted by the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association.
