9 days ago- When Andres Alonso, CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools, in January announced the school system would give students up to $110 each to boost their test scores, a lot of Baltimoreans went nuts. Those traditionalists said this was an absolutely wrong message to send to students. They condemned monetary incentives as corrupting influences on students, wanting them to be like the Socratic scholars of ancient Greece, seeking knowledge purely for knowledge’s sake.

According to some like Dick Morris, they are too numerous and painful to count: She is hard as nails; cold and distant; ruthless and calculating — staying with her philandering husband only to use him as a ladder into the White House; an expert at weaving tall tales like the one where she intrepidly dodged bullets in Bosnia-Herzegovina; polarizing; absent the likability and folksiness of her husband; interminably boring; and with her “ready on day one” incantation, an insufferable headache.

That incident created a national furor because it revealed the ugly mob mentality of the onlooking students, one of whom captured the incident on a cell phone and posted the video online.

A charismatic man, he used the pulpit of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago to exhort, elevate, embarrass and denigrate his congregation and his country. He calls his style neither superior nor inferior to other methods of preaching, merely different.
